Programme :
1. The concept of data (datum/data) in European law, by François Viangalli, Lecturer in Private Law, CESICE
"The purpose of this presentation is to show the very great importance of classifying a fact or object as data, because of the application of a legal regime that follows from it, which can be either very liberal or, on the contrary, very strict (for example, for personal data, and even more so for so-called sensitive data). However, there is no clear definition - other than a nominal one - in comparative law of the very notion of data.
My presentation will set out the philosophical debate on this issue, and the conclusions that can be drawn from it in law, in order to finally propose a simple and clear definition of this fundamental concept, and to outline the consequences."

2. Chaos in micromechanics: towards secure communication based on mems, by Martial Defoort, CNRS researcher, TIMA
"Chaos is a physical phenomenon that can be found everywhere in nature (from the movement of planets to the functioning of the human brain) and which is characterised by the fact that small variations lead to drastic changes in the evolution of a system. Chaos has unique properties, some of which can be used in the field of information security. In this presentation, I will begin with a broad introduction to chaos before discussing its usefulness in cryptography. In the second part, I will present how micrometric mechanical resonators can be tools of choice for implementing this alternative version of secure communication."
