Reliability of the ballot, confidentiality of the vote, trust in the results — the stakes of electronic voting are high. Insight from Véronique Cortier, computer scientist and expert in security protocols.

The emergence of electronic voting raises many challenges regarding reliability and cybersecurity: how can I be sure that my vote will be correctly recorded? Can my neighbor find out how I voted? Can I trust the announced results? These are all legitimate questions — and electronic voting systems do not yet provide complete answers. But similar questions can also be asked of traditional paper-based elections.

In this talk, Véronique Cortier, CNRS Research Director at the LORIA Laboratory in Nancy and recipient of the CNRS Silver Medal, will discuss the security challenges of electronic voting and share her experience of the role played by scientists as trusted third parties during the 2022 French legislative elections.

Event in collaboration with the UGA Department of Scientific Culture.

The conference will be held in french.
