Fostering the interdisciplinary ecosystem in cybersecurity to reshape technologies and social sciences

Taking its roots in prior collaborations through an interdisciplinary team of the LabEx Persyval-lab (2013-2017) and the AMNECYS network, the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute aims at bringing closer the Univ. Grenoble Alpes cybersecurity community and at strengthening the ties between technologies and social sciences.

It also takes advantages of its local ecosystem with several preexisting research platforms such as the G-ICS sandbox for SCADA security, CEA cybersecurity platform that operates an Information Technology Security Evaluation Facility (CESTI-Leti) or the vast industrial network of the IRT Nanoelec. We believe that only through a holistic approach to cybersecurity can we achieve a relevant contribution to building more secure infrastructures and a safer cyberspace.

In practice, the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute contribution to fostering this ecosystem takes many forms:

  • interdisciplinary breakfasts where researchers from our founding research departments introduce others members of our community to the technical and social challenges related to their field of study
  • encouraging scientific collaborations between our founding laboratories and funding PhD theses focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of cybersecurity
  • a Cyber@Alps Interdisciplinary Challenge which aims at uniting Master students from both technical and legal backgrounds in a brand new and innovative competition, building a new generation of students with a broader perspective on cybersecurity
  • developing strong ties with the industrial ecosystem in order to increase the value of our researches
Representing one of the largest - and most diverse - french community working in the field of cybersecurity, the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute channels the expertise of more than 150 researchers.

In order to bring this community closer, the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute organizes many interdisciplinary events, including:

  • breakfasts which aim to expose the technical and social challenges of cybersecurity to the community
  • workshops which aim to showcase our holistic approach to cybersecurity

The Univ. Grenoble Alpes cybersecurity community covers a wide sprectrum of cybersecurity, creating an advantageous environment for fostering interdisciplinary projects:
  • between members of our founding laboratories, taking advantages of complementary approaches to tackle the challenges of modern cybersecurity
  • between our community and the industrial ecosystem in order to share our exp
The Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute also aims at promoting our values of interdisciplinarity:
